Raymond "Sarge" L. Patton, 89, passed away Friday, April 23, 2021 at his home in Hutchinson, KS.
Raymond was born May 6, 1931 in Goodland, KS, the son of Carl L. and Edith M. (Mills) Patton. In 1948 he enlisted in the United States Air Force and served in the Berlin Airlift, Palomares Incident and the Vietnam War. He retired after serving 24 years as a Master Sargent and was honorably discharged in 1972. On April 9, 1950 he married Lola Downen. To this union three children were born, Jack, Laura and Karen.
Raymond owned and operated Ray Patton Electric for 44 years. He also worked for Jackson Ice Cream as a chief electrician and remained with them for 18 years. He was a member of Eastwood Church of Christ in Hutchinson.
Raymond is survived by his children, Jack (Robin) Patton, Laura Patton and Karen (Calvin) Chamberlain; five grandchildren, Matthew Patton, Nicole Pagoyo, Ryan Beal, Trey Powers and Miles Chamberlain; and four great grandchildren, Maddox and Mavea Kaawa, Rubi Patton and Lola Rae Chamberlain.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lola; and nine siblings.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave., Hutchinson, KS, with Pastor Wayne DeWindt officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. Military honors will be conducted by the Unites States Air Force Honor Guard. Burial will take place in Fairlawn Cemetery, Hutchinson, KS. Memorials may be given to Eastwood Church of Christ for the Silver Maple Camp Scholarship and can be sent in care of the funeral chapel.
